Mor Kuzhambu is a south indian side dish for rice which can be made in a jiffy. A perfect side dish for the lazy day. Its a simple and tasty side dish which is also paired with adai in tambrahm houses. This recipe can be made with or without vegetables. The vegetables that we usually use to make this recipe are white pumkin, ladies finger, chayote, bottle gourd, colocasia etc.

COLOCASIA – ¼ KG
TURMERIC POWDER - ¼ TSPN
CURD – 1 CUPS
WATER – 2 CUPS
TO GRIND
RAW RICE – 1 TBLSPN
CHANNA DAL – 1 TBLSPN
SALT – TO TASTE
GREEN CHILLI – 3 NOS
CUMIN SEEDS – 1 TSPN
GRATED COCONUT – ¼ CUP
PEELED GINGER – 1 INCH
TEMPERING
COCONUT OIL – 1 TSPN
COOKING OIL - 1 TBLSPN
MUSTARD SEEDS – ½ TSPN
CUMIN SEEDS – ½ TSPN
PEPPER – ½ TSPN
RED CHILLI – 1 NO
ASAFOEDITA – ¼ TSPN
CURRY LEAVES – AS REQUIRED
CORIANDER LEAVES - OPTIONAL
GRAINSH
COCONUT OIL - 1 TSPN

METHOD OF PREPARATION
1. Add colocasia to a pressure cooker and cook it for 3 whistles, drain it and peel it
2.Wash and soak channa dal and rice for 15 mins. After 15 minutes add it to a mixie along with cumin seeds, green chillies, peeled ginger and grated coconut grind it as a fine paste.
3.Take a pan heat cooking oil and add the grounded paste, turmeric powder and 2 to 3 cups of water. Do not need to fry the paste.
4.Once it starts boiling then add the peeled kozhakesiya and mix it, then add beaten curd and give it a stir
5.Cook the mixture for 2 more minutes once you see the bubbles, switch off the flame
6. Take another pan add coconut oil, in hot oil temper the given ingredients and add the tempering to mor kuzhambu and mix and serve it
Note
- You can even prepare moor kuzhambu without adding any vegetables to it
- You can also use white pumpkin instead. For that you need to boil the peel it and chop it as cubes then add it
- You can substitute curd with 3 cups of butter milk no need to add water
