Coconut chutney | Prepare Coconut Chutney in 5 minutes

Chutney

Coconut Chutney is a very popular south indian side dish that can be made in a jiffy. Simplest and healthy side dish ever for idli, dosa and many more breakfast and savory recipes. The uncooked coconut and its raw flavor has a amazing taste which will be loved by all. 
Coconut has been recognized as a top immune booster, anti fungal, antibiotic, antiviral and antibacterial remedy for thousands of years all over the world. Due to its properties there are numerous coconut products for skin, health and beauty for ages. This is one recipe where you can utilize the nutritious coconut to make both healthy and tasty dish by taking a few chunks of mature coconut and grinding it with a few lentils, green chilies and seasoned with mustard, cumin, and curry leaves.                                           

     

Coconut Chutney

TO GRIND

GRATED COCONUT – 1 CUP
ROASTED GRAM(POTTUKADALAI) – 1/4 CUP OR 4 TBLSPN
GREEN CHILL – 2 NOS
SALT - TO TASTE

TEMPERING

COOKING OIL – 1 TSP
MUSTARD – ¼ TSP
URAD DAL – ¼ TSP
CURRY LEAVES – AS REQUIRED
RED CHILLI  – 1 NOS


METHOD OF PREPARATION:

1. Grind grated coconut, fried gram, green chilli and salt in a mixie.
2. Heat oil in a pan, in hot oil add mustard once it splutters then add urad dal after 2 seconds add red chilli by splitting into two piece and finally add curry leaves. Once curry leaves are roasted switch off the flame and add the tempering to the grounded mixture

3. Mix the grinded chutney and the tempering into the serving dish. Now the coconut chutney is ready to serve with Vada, Seeyam, Idly, Dosai and Pongal



Note:
  • You can use this Chutney for Vadai, Baji, idly/Dosa, Tamarind rice & lemon rice which will be a good Side dish
